Right To Buy
The Right to Buy scheme gives tenants the right to purchase their home at a discount.
As a council tenant you must have a secure public sector tenancy totalling 2 or more years if you became a council tenant before the 18th January 2005.
If you became a council tenant on or after the 18th January 2005 the qualifying period is 5 years.
The percentage of discount you receive is dependent upon the number of years of tenancy.
The minimum discounts are 32% for a house and 44% for a flat (two years) and maximum discounts of 60% for a house (30 years) and 70% for a flat (15 years). The discount cannot exceed £16,000.
Please note that Brent Housing Partnership only deals with Right to Buy enquiries for properties within the London Borough of Brent. If your property is outside of Brent you will need to contact your local authority.
