Domestic violence and housing options
Problems with housing can often lead to other more far reaching issues. Domestic violence includes any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partners or family members. It can affect women and men in both heterosexual and gay relationships. If you or someone you know is a victim of domestic violence, we can direct you to a variety of locally based services that offer free and confidential help.
If you are in need of emergency accommodation you can approach the Council directly. If you would like to be interviewed by someone of the same gender, this can be arranged, but you must let us know when you come to the Council.
In an emergency always dial 999.
Sanctuary Scheme
The Sanctuary Scheme is designed to enable victims of domestic violence to remain in their own accommodation, where:
o it is safe for them to do so
o it is their choice
o the perpetrator does not live in the accommodation.
The main feature of the scheme is the creation of a ‘sanctuary room’, providing a safe room or sanctuary from where victims can call and wait for the arrival of the police. Additional security can also be provided for example, locks on windows and doors, gated security to the outside of a property, fire hammers, fire blankets and emergency lighting.

Getting Help from Ealing Council Housing
Who should I contact?
If you believe that you cannot stay safely in your home, you can get
advice and help from Ealing Council.
If you are already a council tenant, you should first contact Ealing
Homes (see below). If you are a Housing Association tenant,
your first contact should be your housing officer at the Housing
Association.
If you are a tenant of any other landlord, or you own your home, or
are living in someone else’s home, you should contact the Council by
telephoning 020 8825 8888 or by going in person to:
Customer Services
Perceval House
